When couples come to Tuscany to get married they want the romance that is imbued in every hill, olive leaf, and stone. Laura and Andrés wanted a little something more – an adventure. Since the day they met, 9 years ago, embarking on new adventures has been a constant thread that has run through their lives. This wedding was all about starting a new journey together. This theme was embedded in every detail right down to the vintage Fiat 500 that they rode away in on the road to their new life as partners in an epic odyssey. I feel honored that they chose me to help them plan their romantic wedding in a beautiful Medici villa.
From the travel themed invitations with luggage and airplane charms to the ‘Let the Journey Begin’ luggage tags, there was nothing but joyous anticipation throughout the day. The bride, Laura, wanted every detail to be perfect right down to the personalized bagged lunches for the guests to the wedding favors. And to keep cool under the Tuscan sun during the ceremony, fans.
The venue of Villa Le Piazzole a Medici villa nestled in the hills atop the beautiful Renaissance city of Florence. It is the perfect romantic setting for the ‘best day ever!’ outdoor nuptials with breathtaking views of the rolling hills featuring every shade of green imaginable.
There was a sitting area for the guests to rest, listen to music and enjoy the magical setting in the Medici villa gardens.
Laura and Andrés are both doctors and travel often for work. Laura has been collecting each and every important piece since her engagement. Her ethereal wedding gown with a classic vintage aesthetic was purchased in London along with her Jimmy Choos. The gown she wore for the reception was purchased from a favorite designer Rosa Clara in Costa Rica. Andrés’ suit created by an Italian designer was purchased in America. There was a variety of music that set the tone for every moment. The brother and sister of the bride played and sang the wedding march with violins in accompaniment.
For cocktails and dinner, there was a wonderful jazz trio that created a cool relaxed ambiance. To culminate the celebration, after dinner dancing was hosted by a fantastic local DJ who had everyone cutting a rug through the night.
